Denise Sarmento is focused on the marriage between experience and product. Her aim is to create a product that is cleverly designed and flawlessly fuses function, aesthetics, experience and lifestyle. Through extensive research and development she aims to design creative solutions that surpass expectations, while building customer loyalty and increasing brand recognition.

Inspired by learning, the creative process, and by engaging in cross-disciplinary projects she is drawn to understanding consumer needs, branding and marketing strategies. 

Her design experience is diverse as it includes work for brands/retailers and private label clients alike, and ranges from boutique lines to mass-market apparel. She has maintained a focus in ladies’ sportswear and ready to wear.

Denise Sarmento was born and raised in Toronto, ON and grew up with ties to Portugal’s European culture. She developed her passion for fashion at The International Academy of Design in Toronto where she nurtured and explored her creative talents. Graduating in 2005 she was awarded the Most Creative Collection Award of her class (Fashion group Toronto). 

In 2005, Denise moved to Montreal to apprentice with  Andy Thê-Anh on his début collection. Since then she has worked as a Fashion Designer for Canadian brands, such as Rudsak, Lolë, and Finn Cultured and Cured. 

Denise has also designed private label programs for many reputable brands under the direction of Dizaro and Lamour Hosiery, as well as on a contractual basis. This included, but was not limited to, Reitmans Canada Limited (RW & Co, Addition Elle, Penningtons), Frank and Oak, Aubainerie, Crooks and Castles, Ardene, Warehouse One, Bench, The Running Room, Tilley and UK customers such as Next, Asda, and Sainsburys.

Denise is open to new artistic, design and life challenges and opportunities, both local and international. She is trilingual (English, French, Portuguese) and is currently based in Montreal, QC, Canada
